The University of Hawaii Board of Regents will continue their deliberations and will decide on its Final Report from the Presidential Search Process Permitted Interaction Group on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 9:00 am. At this meeting, the Board will be deciding on the role, responsibility, function, makeup, and membership selection of the advisory group, as well as the extent of their involvement in the Presidential search process.
This is Our Chance To Be Heard
This presents another opportunity for Faculty to make sure their voices are heard, as well as to provide their insight and guidance to the Board over the selection of the next UH President. UHPA Faculty is the largest stakeholder since it comprises the largest group of employees within the UH System, providing the highest priority of services for the UH – teaching, research, specialized educational services, and community service.
Advisory Group Perspective Is A Priority
It is crucial for UHPA Faculty to share their comments, concerns, and viewpoints over the elements of the proposed presidential search process, to include their personal perspectives on what they like and dislike about the proposed process and their reasoning on why and how it should be changed. Most importantly, Faculty should share their perspectives on the role, responsibility, function, make-up, and membership governing the selection of the three (3) advisory groups, as this is their opportunity to meaningfully participate in the search process.
