On May 10, 2010 the HLRB ruled that UH had failed to discuss methods for the union to receive information in the investigation of a grievance that alleges a promotion denial was the result of discrimination for union activity. UH has been ordered to negotiate with UHPA over the methods to be employed in obtaining the necessary information to proceed to grievance arbitration.

Young musicians of Oahu gather together in a concert to raise funds for Honolulu's beloved and financially troubled Symphony. This great event is set for Friday, May 14th at 7:30 p.m. in the UH Manoa - Orvis Auditorium. The admission is $20 with a discounted price of $15 for students. All proceeds will support the Honolulu Symphony Musicians.
UHPA has endorsed Congressman Abercrombie and encourages interested faculty to contribute to the election effort by attending this event.
A Hawaii 2005 law encourages state employees to help the Kidney Foundation save lives.
Women from unions across the western U.S. and Canada have an opportunity to meet, sharing ideas, strategies, information, building solidarity, learning new skills, and enriching their work by meeting with other women from a wide range of unions and professions. Labor Education Centers have hosted the SIUW and this year will be the 29th conference, which will be held at Reed College in Portland, Oregon from July 6-10, 2010.
Pursuant to the provisions of the new contract, a joint committee has been charged to reviewing and recommending changes to the CCCM #2250 that had established teaching equivalencies for contact hour based instruction and non-instructional activities.
UHPA has strongly urged Governor Linda Lingle to not veto House Bill 444, H.D.1, S.D.1 regarding civil unions. We encourage all members of the faculty and the community–at–large to join us in urging the Governor to allow this measure to become law in the name of equal justice and civil rights.
The AFL CIO is planning a walk and talk this Sunday to encourage voters to support Senator Hanabusa in her bid for the CD 1 seat. Information will be available for all participants at Mililani High School Tennis Court Parking Lot. UHPA members are encouraged to participate.
