Hawaii Labor Relations Board Rules that UH Committed Prohibited Practice in Grievance Processing

On May 10, 2010 the HLRB ruled that UH had failed to discuss methods for the union to receive information in the investigation of a grievance that alleges a promotion denial was the result of discrimination for union activity. UH has been ordered to negotiate with UHPA over the methods to be employed in obtaining the necessary information to proceed to grievance arbitration.

Honolulu Symphony Musicians Benefit Concert

Young musicians of Oahu gather together in a concert to raise funds for Honolulu's beloved and financially troubled Symphony. This great event is set for Friday, May 14th at 7:30 p.m. in the UH Manoa - Orvis Auditorium. The admission is $20 with a discounted price of $15 for students. All proceeds will support the Honolulu Symphony Musicians.

2010 Summer Institute for Union Women (SIUW)

Women from unions across the western U.S. and Canada have an opportunity to meet, sharing ideas, strategies, information, building solidarity, learning new skills, and enriching their work by meeting with other women from a wide range of unions and professions. Labor Education Centers have hosted the SIUW and this year will be the 29th conference, which will be held at Reed College in Portland, Oregon from July 6-10, 2010.
