MONDAY, JANUARY 19, 2009 - The parade begins at 9:00 am and will travel down Kalakaua Avenue from Magic Island and culminates with a post-parade Unity Rally at Kapiolani Park. UHPA members will be marching with other union members and are invited to ride the HGEA buses from Kapiolani Park to Ala Moana Park. The bus pickup is at 7:15 and 7:45 am in front of the Waikiki Shell parking area on Monsarrat Avenue (space is limited). UHPA members should meet from 8:00-8:30 a.m. with the AFL-CIO contingent near the Alu Mau parking lot (across from the Magic Island parking lot). Look for the State AFL-CIO banner.

The UHPA Board of Directors endorsed the following candidates for the 2008 election. The Board of Directors recommended endorsements were affirmed by UHPA members through surveys in December 2007 and March 2008.
Marcia Armstrong, the Program Director for the Medical Laboratory Technician Program at Kapiolani Community College and a long-time friend and supporter of the University of Hawaii Professional Assembly, will be retiring (or has retired) after 28 years of service. A special retirement celebration dinner will be held for Marcia on September 20 at the Waikiki Yacht Club. For more information and how to respond....
