Saturday, May 9, 2015 will be the date of this year’s National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive.  Aloha United Way is looking for volunteers for the food sorting portion of the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive.

While we all are made to feel like we live in a community of plenty, the sad fact is that for many of Hawaii’s keiki, the only hot meal they get daily is the one they get in school. The NALC Food Drive is timed to take place before the public schools summer vacation. Demand for food spikes because meals that are normally provided by the public schools now must be provided by individual families. The Food Drive helps re-store the foodbank’s supplies of critically needed proteins, vegetables, fruits and carbohydrates.

If you would like to volunteer please download the application and contact Oahu Liaison, Lance Kamada: lance@auw.org or call (808)543-2249.

All volunteers need to wear covered shoes and dress comfortably.  Minors 16 years and up with parental permission are welcome.  Please be sure to wear your union shirts!  We hope to see you there!
