Aloha!
The 2015 legislative session is now in full swing, and UHPA is diligently monitoring bills to advance the interests of University of Hawaii faculty and to quash any legislation that is harmful to faculty and other public employees.
With 3,000 bills now being reviewed by Hawaii’s legislators, monitoring bills can be a daunting task. Fortunately, not all of them pertain to UH faculty, and as in all legislative sessions, most will fall by the wayside. UHPA will zero in on those bills that are relevant for UH and faculty.
We need everyone’s kokua. Our Legislative Action Center will serve as your guide to help you understand which bills are important and need your support. Please refer to these pages throughout the legislative session, which continues through early May 2015.
Bills can move quickly and there may be times we’ll call upon you to step in on short notice for your input. We’ll notify you via email and through our e-newsletters and website when your input and testimony are critical.
Mahalo for being a member of UHPA. Together, we can have one, strong voice that make a difference!
