UHPA Stands in Solidarity with Hotel Workers

UHPA stands in solidarity with the hotel workers who have been without a contract. It is never an easy decision for any union to strike. It is generally the last resort after exhausting all other avenues to amicably reach an agreement. UHPA believes the request of the 2,700 hotel workers on Oahu and Maui for fair wages and better working conditions is fair and reasonable.

It is unfortunate that, as a community, we have had to reach this point, affecting visitors to our islands and our local economy. We urge the hotel management to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and demonstrate aloha for its own employees who are on the front lines meeting the needs of the guests to enhance the bottom line of the hotels and support our island economy.

We will be watching as the negotiations continue and supporting those in Local 5.
