Academic Freedom Battle in Pennsylvania
A Pennsylvania Legislative committee issues its findings after completing its investigation on the matter of academic freedom and whether students who hold unpopular views need protection. Spellings Commission Roll-Out
The Education Department is scheduled to hold a half-day forum, November 29 in Washington on the Spellings Commission’s recommendations on accreditation. Those invited are to “identify strategies on how the accreditation community and its stakeholders can implement” the commission’s recommendations, according to the agenda.

Higher Education Pay

  • Davenport Award Nominees. This award is presented at the opening plenary session of the NEA Higher Education Conference, and recognizes an NEA member, group, or organization for outstanding contributions to higher education. Deadline date is January 5, 2007
  • Amendments to the NCHE Constitution/Bylaws

    Delegates to this year’s NCHE RAM will elect a President, Vice President, and two Executive Committee members to lead the organization. Job descriptions and mailing labels are available. Please contact the NCHE President for more information. Requests for mailing labels must be made by January 28, 2007. Candidates may also be nominated from the floor.
