WHAT:  The National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Association (NQAPIA) will be hosting its annual Community Catalyst Awards to recognize outstanding service to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Asian American, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.  This year’s honorees include UNITE HERE, Local 5, and Esera Tuaolo, local boy from Waimanalo, openly gay former NFL football player, and LGBT activist.  Light pupus included.  No-host bar.

WHY:     NQAPIA is a federation of AAPI LGBT organizations based in Washington, DC that seeks to build the capacity of local AAPI LGBT organizations, invigorate grassroots organizing, develop leadership, and challenge homophobia, racism, and anti-immigrant bias.
