A critical moment demands our collective action. Join us this International Workers’ Day, May 1st, 2025, at 5:00 pm, as we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our union brothers and sisters in a powerful silent march from the State Capitol to the Federal Building, demonstrating our solidarity with federal workers whose rights are under threat. This march is a powerful display of our collective strength and a defense of vital community programs. We rise in response to the unjust termination of collective bargaining rights for 47,000 AFGE TSA members and to safeguard the essential services, like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Department of Education.
Who: UHPA members, fellow union members, and all supporters – bring your colleagues, family, and friends!
What: A powerful, silent march demonstrating our unity and support for federal workers. This visual statement will amplify our collective voice without the use of bullhorns.
Where: We’ll march approximately 0.7 miles (~15 minutes), from the State Capitol to the Federal Building. (See map. Please avoid the Capitol basement parking, as it closes at 6:00 pm.)
When: Thursday, May 1st, at 5:00 pm
Schedule:
- 4:30-5:00 PM: Meet at the State Capitol near the rotunda – look for UHPA staff holding signs
- 5:00-6:00 PM: Silent march to the Federal Building
- 6:00-6:30 PM: Hear impactful speeches at the Federal Building
- 6:30 PM: Event concludes
