Aloha UHPA Members,
On Wednesday, March 4th, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is leading a nationwide Day of Action to Protect Our Kids, Our Families, and Our Communities.
Life is getting harder for many, and instead of providing relief, we are seeing increasing threats to the foundations of our society. This Day of Action is a collective stand against:
— Cuts to higher education, public schools, and childcare.
— Attacks on academic freedom and the muzzling of educators.
— Reduced funding for healthcare and public services.
— Actions that threaten the safety and belonging of our students and campuses.
We must keep the pressure up. We have seen that collective action works—whether it is stopping federal funding cuts or protecting civil rights in the courts. On March 4th, we join educators, healthcare workers, and public employees across the country to show what we are fighting for: opportunity, freedom, safety, and affordability.
How You Can Participate
While UHPA will not be holding a formal march, we are asking for a powerful visual show of solidarity from our faculty across all campuses. By wearing our colors and sharing our images, we demonstrate that UH faculty stand united against the hollowing out of public services and the erosion of academic freedom.
- Wear your UHPA, AFT, or a blue shirt on Wednesday, March 4th.
- Take a photo (a selfie or a group shot with your colleagues).
- Email your photos to sdayan@uhpa.org so we can share our collective voice.
- Tell your story: Have you felt the impact of this administration’s policies? Or have you done something in your community to fight back? AFT wants to hear from you. By raising our voices and telling our stories, we can show our communities, the media, and our lawmakers why this matters. Use this form to share your experience with AFT.
