The political landscape is constantly shifting, often echoing the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement. This Thursday, July 17th, we honor the legacy of Congressman John Lewis and all he did to incite “Good Trouble” and strengthen our democracy. Here are some upcoming events in honor of Congressman Lewis:

Get Involved on July 17th: Join others across the nation in remembering Congressman Lewis and the vision he had for America. Demonstrations will be taking place at the following locations across the islands. For more information, please visit here and here.

- Hawai‘i State Capitol, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
- Hawai‘i State Public Library (at Patsy Mink statue), 12-1:30 pm
- Maui: Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center, 4:30-6 pm
- Kauai: Kukui Grove Center, 4:30-6 pm
- Big Island:
- Hilo: Hilo Bayfront (Pauahi St. & Kamehameha Ave.), 3-5 pm
- Waimea: Mamalahoa Hwy (19) fronting Ikua Purdy Monument, 4-5 pm
- Kailua-Kona: Queen Ka‘ahumanu Hwy, south of Henry Street, behind Mormon Temple, 4-5 pm
- Na‘alehu: Hwy 11 near Post Office, 4-5 pm
