Senator Schatz's staff has notified UHPA of a harmful budget proposal by the Obama administration to consolidate all STEM funding into three agencies NSF, Department of Education, and the Smithsonian. This consolidation is creating uncertainty with the status of existing long term grants and contracts along with lack of clarity in the transfer of responsibility for existing funds.
