UHPA supports the efforts undertaken by a coalition of public higher education faculty organizations to address the growing inequity in the treatment of part-time and adjunct faculty.
Active members at UH-West Oahu were emailed an announcement that informed them about a special Board of Director's election on their campus. Former Director Eun Ahn was appointed as the UHWO Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the end of the spring semester. Since many faculty members were on summer leave, the Nominations and Elections Committee decided to conduct this election in the fall. The N&E has informed members of the timelines and process for this special election.
This article raises serious questions about role and effectiveness of boards and their relations with university presidents, something for UH to think about given that two of the past UH presidents had problems with ours.

As an affiliate of the National Education Association (NEA), the University of Hawaii Professional Assembly (UHPA) is eligible to send twenty-one (21) delegates to the NEA Representative Assembly (RA). Nominations are now open for UHPA/NEA Active members only. All nominations are due to UHPA by 4:30 p.m. on March 16, 2009.
Sponsored by Kaiser Permanente this conference was developed in conjunction with a number of Hawaii labor unions. UHPA members are invited to attend. There is no cost but registration is necessary.
Attention: Parents of Students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Consent forms and additional information about the Stop Flu at School program will be distributed through participating schools in August.
