EUTF Health Premium Rates Revised Effective July 1, 2018

The Hawaii Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund (EUTF) Premium Rates will be revised effective July 1, 2018, due to the recent waiver by Congress of the ACA insurer fee for calendar 2019. The Open Enrollment period for active members to make changes to their current health plan coverage is from April 2 - 30, 2018.  Please visit the EUTF website for more information.

Please support this year's National Association of Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive which is on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Thanks to American Income Life (AIL) for their generous donation of $3,000 for the 2018 Hawaii State AFL-CIO scholarships. There will be three scholarships awarded in the amount of $1,000 each. Retroactive dues fix coming in Jan 5th paycheck

UHPA discovered that the University failed to deduct the appropriate dues from the retroactive paychecks issued on December 5, 2017. As a consequence of this administrative oversight, UHPA notified the University. The University has responded that faculty members will see a slightly higher deduction of dues in the January 5th payroll. UHPA Contract Funded by Legislature

On September 1, 2017 the Legislature approved the salary appropriations for the UHPA contract for 2017 and 2018. The bill now goes to the Governor for his signature. He is expected to sign. Today’s information indicates that back pay will not be received in the October 5 payroll. It may be late October or November depending on the mechanics of the retroactive calculations. UHPA Seeks to Allow Legislature to Appropriate Salary Funds during a Special Legislative Session

UHPA filed a request that the Hawaii Labor Relations Board rule on whether the Legislature may appropriate funds for a collective bargaining agreement during a Special Legislative Session. Over the course of this month, it became clear that there were issues being raised by the Governor’s office and the Speaker of the House that the collective bargaining law, Chapter 89, might not allow an appropriation be made during a Special Legislative Session.
