Letter from Assistant Professor Leticia Colmenares

Dear President Greenwood,

I received your email and I am totally surprised by your statement, "I had publicly committed that there would be no layoffs of tenured or tenure track faculty for fiscal reasons through fiscal year 2011."  I am wondering if this was just a personal commitment on your part because if it was the administration's position it should have been part of the LBFO.

Personally, I was hoping that UHPA and the UH administration can come together and join forces to convince the Governor to accept ALL possible proposals, that include GE tax increase and retirement incentives. In these extraordinarily difficult times ALL options have to be considered to address the budget shortfall.
