1. NEA Click & Save: Convenient Brand Name Merchant Shopping

NEA members and their families can shop for an array of products from brand name merchants through NEA Click & Save.

Introduced to Association members in the fall of 2007, NEA Click & Save provides a new level of convenience for family shopping with a host of discount offers. The categorical shopping list features:

·         Jewelry

·         Travel

·         Computers

·         Food

·         Books & Music

·         Tickets

·         Automotive

Among other services, members can elect to receive personalized electronic reminders from their favorite merchants.

To register, members apply their 10-digit NEA number (located on the mailing label on the NEA Today cover) at https://www.neamb.com/clickandsave/index.jsp.

2. New Information Package Helps Families Prepare Legal Documents

A self-help package for preparation of legal documents is now available to NEA members at a discount price.

Quicken Willmaker Plus 2008 helps individuals design an estate plan without the legal costs of hiring an attorney.  The package was developed by the editors of Nolo, America’s leading publisher of self-help and legal software.  It takes users through a step-by-step interview process with information geared to the specific laws of the state of residence.

The 2008 package provides assistance with creating a will, promissory notes, child & eldercare documents, executor checklists, funeral arrangements, and health care directives. For a limited time, it is available for $27.90, including shipping (the Internet price is $49.99). A downloadable version is available at $19.95.  To learn more, go to http://www.neamb.com/willmaker/.

3. LeapFrog SchoolHouse: Learning Tools for Classroom and Home Use

LeapFrog SchoolHouse has been added to the list of consumer discount programs offered to NEA members.  This fall, NEA Member Benefits announced the online educational service, which offers a variety of interactive multi-sensory products designed specifically for classroom and student take-home use. Items include handheld devices, pentop computers, and interactive libraries.

NEA members receive the highest discount available from LeapFrog SchoolHouse, plus $30 off and free shipping on the first purchase of $100 or more until August 31, 2008.

To receive the special NEA introductory discount, members can register on the LeapFrog SchoolHouse site and use the promotional code NEAMB7 upon check out.

4. Five-Minute Retirement Checkup Features Interactive Calculator

NEA Member Benefits in 2007 introduced an easy to use web-based Five-Minute Retirement Checkup to help individuals calculate their financial readiness to retire.

The Checkup at www.neamb.com/5toRetire projects the person’s retirement saving gap based on:

·         Age

·         Annual income

·         Current savings

·         Current monthly retirement savings contributions

An interactive calculator lets the user know how much to save each month to meet the retirement goal.

5. Credit Counseling Services Available in Person or by Telephone

NEA Member Benefits and the National Foundation of Credit Counseling (NFCC) teamed up in 2007 to provide financial literacy and debt management education to members and their families.  A special Web page at www.debtadvice.org.nea provides information about financial counseling and education services offered through NFCC-member agencies located nationwide.

Credit counselors are available to help develop customized solutions to financial problems, either in person or by telephone.  Services are free or at very affordable rates.
